Also good for scooping
In Japan, we use a kind of spatula called a hera for cooking on a hot plate.
The hera is great for cutting and flipping Japanese okonomiyaki pancakes, but is not so good for scooping.
So we put an indent in the hera so it can scoop easily as well.
This is also ideal when using frying pans.
